AP Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism is the calculus-based AP E&M course for students preparing for the College Board exam. The course follows the current AP Physics C: E&M unit sequence: Electric Charges, Fields, and Gauss's Law; Electric Potential; Conductors and Capacitors; Electric Circuits; Magnetic Fields and Electromagnetism; and Electromagnetic Induction. Use this path when students need exam-focused practice with calculus-based field models, circuit reasoning, flux, induction, graphs, and free-response explanations.

AP Unit 8: Electric Charges, Fields, and Gauss's Law

• Use differential-equation models for RC circuits and transient behavior.
• Connect circuit equations to charge flow, energy transfer, and measurement.

AP Unit 12: Magnetic Fields and Electromagnetism

• Model magnetic fields, magnetic forces, and motion of charged particles in fields.
• Use Biot-Savart-style reasoning and Ampere's law for current-produced fields.
• Analyze forces on wires, loops, and current distributions.

AP Unit 13: Electromagnetic Induction

10-20% of exam
• Use magnetic flux, Faraday's law, Lenz's law, motional emf, and induced electric fields.
• Connect changing fields, induced currents, and energy transfer across graphs and equations.
• Analyze inductance and RL-style transient behavior at an introductory calculus level.
