Complex Numbers and the Quadratic Formula

You may recall the general form of the quadratic equation given by:

$$ax^2+bx+c=0$$

where $a,b,c \in \mathbb{R}$, and $a\neq 0$.

You may also recall that the solutions to any equation of this form are given by the quadratic formula:

$$x = \frac{-b \pm \sqrt{b^2-4ac}}{2a}.$$
