The complex conjugate of a complex number z=a+biz = a +bi, which we denote either by zˉ\bar{z} or zz^{*}, is defined as:

zˉ=abi\bar{z} = a - bi

i.e. we just flip the sign of the imaginary part of zz.

Visually, taking the complex conjugate amounts to reflecting zz across the real axis. For example:
