A particle moving in a straight line has angular momentum about any pivot point not on that line.

Consider a particle of mass $m$ moving with velocity $v$ along a straight path. Let $\vec{r}$ be the position vector from the pivot to the particle, and let $\theta$ be the angle between $\vec{r}$ and $\vec{v}$.
