To convert from magnitude and angle to components, use trigonometry:

xx-component: x=rcos(θ)x = r \cdot \cos(\theta)

yy-component: y=rsin(θ)y = r \cdot \sin(\theta)

For a vector with magnitude r=5r = 5 at angle θ=37°\theta = 37° counterclockwise from the xx-axis:

  • x=5cos(37°)=50.8=4x = 5 \cdot \cos(37°) = 5 \cdot 0.8 = 4
  • y=5sin(37°)=50.6=3y = 5 \cdot \sin(37°) = 5 \cdot 0.6 = 3

The vector has components (4,3)(4, 3).
